PERFECT START – Day 1
Good morning and congratulations for taking your
first step toward optimal health and longevity!
OK … it’s DAY 1 and here
we go:
1. Be sure to take one
Detoxal-21 three times today
2. Take one
Colon Activator
at your evening meal (best taken with food) – start with 1 today and add
1 each evening as needed.
3. Take some time to read about
the 21-day
PERFECT START program in the Journey to a
Healthy You product instruction guide. Be sure to read the
Healing Crisis section of this guide (very important).
4. Drink, drink, drink … up to
1 gallon of water each day really helps the process!
IMPORTANT
INFORMATION FOR YOUR OVERALL HEALTH & WELL-BEING
Water provides your body with
the fluid needed to flush out toxins and properly hydrate your cells.
You may notice an increase in energy just by drinking more water.
It is recommended that you do
not drink anything from a half-hour before eating until an hour after
finishing your meal. Why, you ask? It’s because water dilutes
(weakens) your stomach acid, which is fine, unless it’s trying to digest
something!
Since you aren’t “washing down”
your food, you will be forced to take smaller bites and to chew your
food fully before swallowing. If you are on a limited time schedule,
extra time spent chewing means you will automatically eat less. There
are two benefits to this: 1) Your food will digest faster and more
completely, since it is chewed better and will be in stronger stomach
acid, and 2) If you are overweight, the reduced food intake means you
may experience an easy weight drop, even without “dieting.”
Avoiding liquids at meals often
has the side benefit of reducing the need for antacids. Why? Many
people who suffer from “acid reflux” are actually suffering from poor
digestion and too little acid, not excess acid.
Here’s a simple test that has
worked for thousands of people, can be found in numerous references, and
is harmless to try. The next time you have a battle with “acid reflux,”
indigestion or heartburn, instead of taking an antacid, drink a
tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a very small glass of water. If
you are like most people, the discomfort will stop within just a minute
or two. If you are the rare individual who actually does have excess
acid, the apple cider vinegar will not offer relief, and you can go back
to gobbling antacids.
It seems odd … How can so many
people who supposedly have “acid reflux” get relief from a natural food
like apple cider vinegar, which contains additional acid (malic acid)?
Well, malic acid assists digestion; antacids slow it.
Hmmm, maybe people are giving
themselves digestion problems through their poor eating habits! (By
the way, just as the malic acid in apple cider vinegar is good for your
body, the acetic acid in white or wine vinegars is bad for it. Avoid
consuming much of these vinegars).
So drink more water, but drink
it between meals.
HELPFUL HINTS
FOR DRINKING MORE WATER
1. START TODAY
Make a commitment to start drinking more water today. This is the
dheapest diet aid in the world. Just drink more of it. Make this a
personal challenge. I tell myself to drink four quarts a day. I try to
encourage myself to drink more each day. – alikaratekid
2. SAVE A GALLON OF MONEY
I used to drink a lot of soda and sugary juice throughout the day.
I realized I was spending $3 a day on beverages. I switched to water,
and now I am saving almost $1,200 a year. That is enough money for a
new wardrobe. – alikaratekid
3. USE A STRAW
Believe it or not, use a straw. I seem to drink faster and more
often out of a straw, and I can get down up to about a gallon of water a
day without thinking twice about it. A strange Jedi mind trick? Yes –
but an effective one. – JM
4. DRINK AND DRIVE (WATER, OF
COURSE)
I drink water in my car on the way home from work. My commute is
about 45 minutes, and I manage to drink two 16-ounce bottles every day
going home. – iVillager
5. DRINK WATER WHEN YOU ARE
HUNGRY
Whenever you get a hunger pang, try drinking a large glass of
water. I’m not suggesting you always ignore those hunger pangs and
replace food with water, but sometimes all your body is really craving
is fluid. – NP
6. MAKE BATHROOM AND WATER
COOLER TRIPS INTO A BREAK
You should look at getting up to get water and going to the restroom
as a positive part of the day. With computers being an important part
of our daily lives, too many people do not get enough time away from
their desks. – LM
7. FREEZE YOUR WATER
OVERNIGHT
Freeze a 20-ounce bottle of water every night. In the morning, take
that frozen bottle to the office.
You can sip cold water all day
long. I buy the large bottles of water and freeze them half full of
water and put one in a sock to keep it from sweating all over the
furniture, and it stays cold most of the day. – Patty
8. MAKE IT COUNT
I drink two glasses of water upon rising in the morning, two glasses
about one hour before lunch, two glasses about one hour before dinner
and two glasses about one hour before bedtime. Which gives me the eight
glasses of water that I need daily. – Delores
I fill a half-gallon empty milk
jug or juice jug and only fill my glass from this jug so I keep track of
the amount of water I drink. – MW
9. BIGGER IS BETTER
I try to drink enough water every day by drinking out of a 16-ounce
container rather than an 8-ounce container. That way I think to myself
that I only have to drink six or eight container’s worth of water in the
day. – Laura
10. DRINK WATER FOR ENERGY
I find water actually keeps me more alert, and I experience no
“crashes” after drinking it like I do with coffee or soda. – Kim
11. THINK ABOUT CLEAR SKIN
For 15 years I have been drinking over a gallon of water a day. I
have a purification system, and I always fill up my gallon jug and keep
one at work and one at home. I drink it at my desk and take it wherever
I go in a smaller bottle. I really attribute it to why at 47 I feel my
skin looks younger than most 47-year-olds. I also think it has helped
me to stay thin all these years. Bottom line: water, water, water. –
iVillager
12. MAKE IT A PART OF YOUR
DAILY ROUTINE
Before I leave for work in the morning, I fill my water bottle with
half water and a tray and a half of ice cubes and place it in the
freezer till I’m ready to leave for work (about half an hour). After
arriving at work, I place the bottle in the fridge until I’ve had my two
cups of coffee. When I’m ready for my water, it’s ice cold. It makes
for the freshest-tasting water after my coffee. That ice I placed in
the bottle early in the morning becomes enough of a frozen block to keep
the water cold for me all day long, even with refills. Therefore, it’s
tastier to drink – I know I don’t like to drink room-temperature water.
– MM
13. DO THE MATH
The basic formula, which I work from, is that everyone needs to
drink from 64 ounces of water upwards every day. Overweight people need
to drink more. The “fast and dirty” calculation for how much to drink
is to weigh yourself in pounds and divide by two. Drink that many
ounces of water or 64 ounces of water a day, whichever is greater. – MW
14. EAT WATERY FRUIT
My solution is to try to eat fruit that contains a lot of water, and
I count that in my daily tally. That way, by eating oranges, watermelon
and so on, I am getting fiber, vitamins and water all at the same time,
without consuming a lot of calories. – Tilly
15. MAKE IT INTO A GAME
I approach the issue like the old game show Let’s Make a Deal. I
have a 32-ounce bottle with the straws built in. In the morning I do
not have any coffee until I have drained a full bottle of the water into
my parched body. – MW
16. GET SASSY
First, I use a one-liter bottle – a larger (but not obnoxious)
bottle means fewer trips to the water cooler for refills. Next, if
anyone made a comment about my repeat visits to the water cooler, I just
say, “Well, you know us supermodels (bodybuilders), we need to drink a
lot of water.” The joke lightens things up. – MW |
