Roy Brabham, MD Roy F. Brabham, MD – Chairman, Health Advisory Board
Dr. Brabham attended Rice University from 1968 – 1971, and then left without a degree when he was accepted to medical school.  He graduated from LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport in 1975 and did his residency in General Surgery at University of Wisconsin Hospitals in Madison, WI, from 1975 – 1980 followed by a fellowship in General Surgery at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital in Gloucester, England, from 1980 – 1981.  This threw him out of phase with the calendar year for medical training in the US, so he spent 10 months doing ER work in Louisiana upon his return to the US.  Dr. Brabham subsequently did a residency in Plastic Surgery at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals from 1982 – 1984 and was certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

While establishing his private practice in Baton Rouge, LA from 1984 through 2003, he helped found Eduplast, a non-profit foundation dedicated to providing resources and training in plastic surgery and other medical disciplines to underdeveloped areas of the world.  In his capacity as a board member of Eduplast, Dr. Brabham has made nearly 30 working trips to Nicaragua since 1991.  He has also participated in educational activities in Mexico, Honduras, Ecuador, Cuba, and Tibet.

His interest in alternative approaches to wellness stems from personal experiences with health issues in his family.  Dr. Brabham's father spent his last 5 years of life as a “cardiac cripple” and his youngest brother died unexpectedly at age 45.  Looking to avoid such things himself, he began to explore approaches outside traditional medicine, which didn’t have answers for his father or brother.  He was amazed to discover how much was there, along with supportive research, since he had not been exposed to any of this (other than to discredit these approaches) during his extensive medical training.

A set of circumstances for the company led him to put his medical practice on hold and come to work full-time in the corporate offices in Owensboro in June of 2003.  He has been working on product and literature development, and is truly enjoying everything about his work activities for the first time in years.
